Benet Vicens Benet Vicens was born in May 1963 in Sóller, a small village in Majorca. Since he was young, he has been captivated by this magnificent region where his parents lead a restaurant, Béns d'Avall. From the age of ten he helped in the family business first in the service, then in the kitchen. His grandmother, who worked as cook in France taught him the knowledge as well as the passion of cooking. Therefore he decided to go to the hospitality school of Palma de Mallorca to broaden his horizon in the field of the culinary world. There he met master chef Tomeu Esteva who became his role model with his vocation for cooking. With everything he creates he pays attention to the details. To him it is especially important to use only authentic ingredients form the region. This is not only to serve the guests the finest food, but also to support the future of the Mallorcan society. On the Island he is reckoned as conveyor of the "new Balearic cuisine". To pass on his expertise he leads a gastronomic consultancy and also operates a catering service. |
